  Annie (Catharine Hicks) talks to Robbie on the phone.  Annie is in the kitchen with Sam and David, telling them about their first birthday coming up on Valentine's Day. Ruthie comes down and asks what's going on, and Annie tells her the boys' birthday is coming up. Ruthie wants to celebrate the boys' birthday today so "we can keep Valentine's Day sacred. Annie tells her the boys' birthday is more important than Valentine's Day. Ruthie: I'll be sure to let Hallmark know. Ruthie returns upstairs as Annie tells her to think about what she's giving the boys for their birthday. Lucy asks Ruthie why she's sad, and Ruthie tells her the twins are ruining the lives of everyone planning to celebrate Valentine's Day as Valentine's Day. The phone rings, and Annie answers.   Lucy (Beverly Mitchell) and Mary (Jessica Biel) talk during church. The church choir sings "He's Got the Whole World in His Hands." Ruthie tells Lucy she needs her help with something later. Annie overhears and asks what she needs help with, but Ruthie doesn't tell her. Instead, Ruthie asks to go help in the nursery. Annie tells her she can't go. Ruthie: No fair, you let Simon go. Annie: Simon's in the nursery helping Mrs. Kramer out because she's short a volunteer today, not because he wanted to miss Daddy's sermon. Ruthie: Why do you think he volunteered to help out?   Simon (David Gallagher) and Nigel (David Netter) leave a store after purchasing a pack of cigarettes.  Simon and Nigel go to a store to purchase a package of cigarettes. As they leave, the cashier reminds them to take their matches. Simon grabs them and thanks the man, and the boys leave the store. Nigel: Man, that was too easy. The opening credits come up, and the theme song plays. Lucy is grabbing food out of the refrigerator. Matt is sitting at the table looking upset, and Lucy is trying to make him a sandwich. She tells him she finished his laundry too. Matt says it's pity and that he and that just because Shana didn't call doesn't mean they've broken up. Mary comes into the kitchen and asks Matt how he's doing. Matt: Oh, put a sock in it. He leaves the room. Mary tells Lucy the long-distance relationship won't work, but Lucy says it could.
