Eric (Stephen Collins) and Annie (Catherine Hicks) in the kitchen.  Lucy is upset because everyone else has something to do on a Friday night. Annie tells her that Eric also has no plans, but Eric informs him he has to go see a couple because one of their mothers is dying. Lucy asks if she can go, but Annie tells her she can't. (I wonder what this episode would have been like if Annie had said yes). Mary and Matt come into the kitchen, and Matt tells Mary she can't do something and says their mother will agree. Mary: Michael Towner invited me to come over to his house to watch movies. Annie: Are his parents gonna be home? Mary: His parents don't live there. He rents a house with other guys.  Annie: Well, then, what he said. Mary is mad and leaves the kitchen. Matt tells his mom he's going to ride with Sargeant Michaels in his police car for an extra credit assignment in his social sciences class. Annie is concerned, and Matt tells her he will be fine.  Annie: Ju

Eric (Stephen Collins) talks with someone at church.  Eric is talking to Rudy Steineger (Jack Carter) in his office at the church. Rudy is the custodian at Simon's middle school. He asks Eric if God ever speaks audibly to him. Eric tells him "no," and Rudy says God speaks out loud to him. The opening credits come up, and the theme song plays.  Annie is working in fast motion (thanks to the incredible technology that allows cameras to speed things up) to get the twins their formula made and to them before they start crying.  The babies are crying when she gets the bottles to them. Matt comes into his parents' room and tells Annie he's going to the library to study; however, Matt told  Shana he was studying at home, so she might call while he's gone. Matt asks his mother if she needs any help, and she says she needs to be faster at getting the bottles to the twins. The phone rings. It's Patricia Hamilton (Olivia Brown) . Annie tells her she needs to do

Matt (Barry Watson) talks with Shana and Scott. Eric is reading "The Crawford Courier," and the headline reads "Crawford President In Alleged Extracurricular Activities With Co-Ed." Jack Brenner (David Dukes) , the "Crawford President" in question, is talking to Eric and says it's true, not alleged.  Matt is out with Shana (Maureen Flannigan) on a date discussing Brenner getting fired. Their friend Scott (Michael Sullivan) comes in and tells them some students are staging a walkout. Matt says Brenner's private life is his own business. (Unfortunately, when you are in a public position, you forfeit your personal life - sad but true).  Shana said she disagreed with what he did. However, the girl he had an affair with wasn't a victim because she was a third-year grad student and knew the man was married. (Good point)! Simon is on the phone with his boss, Mr. Daniels (Andrew Benne) , at the Glenoak Gazette. He is having trouble collecting the

Simon Camden (David Gallagher) is desperately searching for his red-lightening ring. The Camdens, minus Simon, and the infant twins are walking down the hall with their flashlights because they hear a noise from Simon's room. Simon is frantically searching for his red-lightening ring because he believes he inherited Lucy's unlikely middle-child spot.  Mary: Should we kill him now or in the morning? The twins start crying. All: Now Simon: See, unlucky. I"m unlucky. The opening credits come up, and the theme song plays.  Matt is in the kitchen writing in a notebook. Eric comes down and asks his son if he's deciding on a major yet. Annie tells her husband that "his clients" are waiting for him in the living room. Matt calls them "church nuts," and Eric tells him not to major in psychology.  Ruthie does a cartwheel, but Ted (Corbin Bernsen) and his wife Emily, who has a British accent (Amanda Pays), totally ignore her because they are looking at Sa
